FAQ
Straight answers, before you book.
If your question isn’t here, call or text 985-250-0661 — we’d rather answer it now than have you guess.
What are your hours?
Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm. Call or text 985-250-0661 — texting is often the fastest way to reach us on a job.
Do you work weekends or after hours?
Regular service is Monday–Friday. Camellia Comfort Plan members can reach us for emergency no-cool and no-heat call-outs on Saturdays and Sundays. If you’re not a member and your system is down, still call — we’ll tell you honestly what we can do.
How much does a service call cost?
We’ll tell you the diagnostic fee when you book, and you’ll know the cost of any repair before work starts. No surprise fees added on afterward, and nothing is done without your approval.
Should I repair or replace my system?
It depends on the equipment’s age, the specific failure, the refrigerant it uses, and how the rest of the system is holding up. We give you both numbers and our honest read. If the repair makes sense, that’s what we recommend — we don’t push replacements.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, financing is available for new system installations. Ask us and we’ll walk you through the options.
How often should my system be serviced?
Twice a year in our climate — once before cooling season and once before heating season. Gulf Coast systems run more hours per year than almost anywhere else in the country, so small drifts in charge, capacitors, and drains add up faster. That’s exactly what the Camellia Comfort Plan is built around.
My house is cool but it feels sticky. What’s wrong?
Usually one of three things: an oversized system that cools the air before it runs long enough to pull moisture out, a low fan speed or dirty coil, or ductwork pulling humid attic air in. Sometimes it’s simply that the house needs a whole-home dehumidifier. We measure return-air wet bulb and the temperature split to tell which — rather than guessing.
Why is one room always hotter than the rest?
Nine times out of ten it’s ductwork — an undersized run, a crushed or disconnected flex duct, or a leak dumping air into the attic — not the equipment. Duct repair and balancing is usually a far cheaper fix than a bigger system.
What’s changing with refrigerants, and does it affect me?
New equipment is shipping with newer low-GWP refrigerants, and older refrigerants are getting more expensive to service. It doesn’t mean your current system has to go — but it does change the math on big repairs to older equipment. We’ll explain how it applies to your specific system.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes — light commercial: small offices, shops, restaurants, and churches. Nothing over 25 tons and no industrial work.
What areas do you serve?
Slidell and the Northshore within about 30–40 miles — Covington, Mandeville, Madisonville, Abita Springs, Folsom, Lacombe, Pearl River, Hammond, Ponchatoula, eastern New Orleans, and Metairie. If you’re close but not listed, call and ask.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Camellia holds Louisiana Mechanical License CL.04636 and EPA 608 Universal Certification, and operates as a Louisiana LLC based in Slidell.
